Primary 7C kitted themselves out in pjs and casual wear to watch the movie of the our class novel Holes. Lots of happy faces.
Primary 7C have been exploring water pollution this week. At the beginning of the week we learnt about some of the effects of oil pollution on the environment, animals and food webs. We then carried out a simulated oil spill (using olive oil) and looked at how difficult it was to protect creatures from an oil spill and to clean birds and mammals when they become coated with oil. We used a feather to represent birds and a Pom Pom to represent sea mammals. We designed ways to isolate the spill but then unfortunately a hurricane came along and the oil got over the booms we had made to protect our creatures.
After practising skills on Tuesday, we played cricket in the Meadows this morning. We had invaluable help from Isla, Ben and Aadi who play cricket in a club, and from Mrs Tariq who had really good knowledge of the sport. It was a real pleasure to see the children take on leadership roles, support each other with skills and discussion of tactics and having fun. Some impressive catching and batting skills were on display.
It was wet on the grass with the early morning dew so you might notice some ingenious shoe drying going on in the last photograph.
